The Business Problem

Chapter 1: Intro + Story

Rahul, 34 years old, worked at a major Indian IT company for 8 years. He was a delivery manager. Not a superstar. Not a failure. Average performer. Made about ₹30 lakhs annually.

In July 2025, his company announced “AI-driven operational efficiency.” What that meant: Rahul’s job of tracking 40 developers, scheduling meetings, creating status reports, and flagging bottlenecks was being handed to a suite of AI tools.

His company kept one senior PM to handle strategy. The other three PMs (including Rahul) were told they could “explore new opportunities.”

He was given 2 weeks severance for every year worked: 16 weeks severance = roughly ₹2.3 lakhs.

Now, 34 years old, 8 years of experience, competing in a job market where companies are hiring entry-level people and AI.

[PAUSE]

His case is NOT unique. This is happening to thousands of Rahuls right now.

My name is [Mukul], and I’m going to show you the mirror regarding job layoffs and financial independence in this video, along with practical solutions that anyone can apply.

Let’s get started.

October 2025. A Tuesday morning. Across India, approximately 50,000 white-collar professionals wake up to a message on their Slack.

Not an email. A Slack message. Because emails can be tracked.

“Your services are no longer required effective immediately.”

[PAUSE – 3 seconds]

Fifty thousand. That’s the population of a small Indian city. Losing their jobs in 2025 alone.

Amazon. 14,000 gone. Meta. 4,320. Accenture. 11,000.

But the numbers you should be terrified about? The ones in India.

TCS: 12,000 mid-level managers eliminated.

Oracle: 10% of India workforce—that’s 1,000 people—fired in Zoom calls lasting 20 minutes.

Infosys: 26,000 employees cut in two years.

Wipro: 24,500 gone.

So if you are thinking “I work at Accenture / TCS / Google. These are stable companies. They won’t lay me off.”

That’s the assumption you need to change. Because this layoff trend is real, and you could be next.

Chapter 2: WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?

Let me ask you a simple question:

THINK ABOUT YOUR LAST THREE TASKS:

Close your eyes for 2 seconds and think about what you did last week at work.

  • Did you prepare a report? (AI can now do it in 10 minutes)
  • Did you lead a meeting? (AI can now transcribe, summarize, and action items)
  • Did you troubleshoot a problem? (AI can now search documentation and suggest solutions)
  • Did you coordinate between teams? (AI tools like Slack and Monday.com can now do this)
  • Did you handle customer complaints? (AI chatbots are now doing this)

[SPECIFIC STAT]

IBM released an internal memo in November 2025 showing this:

They replaced 200 HR team members—recruitment, payroll, benefits management—with an AI system. Output stayed the same. Cost went down 90%.

One HR director managed it. 200 people: gone.

You think your job is complex because you DO complex tasks.

Companies think your job is simple because they’re ANALYZING your tasks.

If your company could deliver the same output with 60% of the people, would they keep you?

Probably not.

Not because you’re bad at your job. But because keeping you costs them money.

And in 2026, when every company is trying to match their competitors’ profit margins, keeping you becomes impossible.

Chapter 3: The Way Out

While the job layoff trend sounds like a downfall (and it is), do you know there’s another trend that’s booming?

Freelancing.

India now has 15 million active freelancers. That’s the SECOND LARGEST freelancer base in the world, after the US.

Not small-time side hustlers. These are engineers, designers, writers, video editors, consultants—PROFESSIONALS—all billing international clients.

And here’s what matters:

India’s freelance market is growing at 24% annually. Compare that to India’s traditional employment growth: 3-4% per year.

[Insert a “follow me on Instagram” tile]

Freelancing is growing 6X faster than full-time jobs.

And while listening to these facts you might think that the Indian freelance landscape is booming, let me add another interesting bit to this:

The global freelance landscape.

It’s at $500 billion in 2025. That’s half a TRILLION dollars flowing into freelancers.

Of that, roughly 60% originates from three markets: USA, UK, and Europe.

Meaning: American and British companies are ACTIVELY HIRING Indian freelancers right now.

[PAUSE – Let this sink in]

Here’s where it gets interesting for YOUR income:

The average annual freelance income for Indian professionals working with international clients is around ₹20-25 lakhs.

But that’s average. Which means many make less. Many make MORE.

The top 23% of Indian freelancers? They’re making over ₹40 lakhs per year.

Let’s understand this with a simple scenario:

A backend developer in Bengaluru makes ₹25-30 lakhs from their full-time job. Works 40 hours a week. Stressed about AI. Worrying about 2026.

That SAME developer, working 12-15 hours per WEEK on Upwork or international platforms?

Can make ₹1.5 to 3 lakhs PER MONTH.

That’s ₹18-36 lakhs EXTRA per year.

So their total income just went from ₹25L to ₹61L. While working less hours overall.

Chapter 4: Freelancing & Fake Gurus

Okay so while it’s true that the sky is the limit when it comes to freelancing, one word that’s often associated with freelancing is:

SCAM.

[Insert a “follow me on Instagram” tile]

And honestly, such scams still happen daily.

The MOMENT people see these numbers—₹1.5-3L per month, ₹20-40L annually from freelancing—they panic-search.

“How do I start freelancing in India?”

And what do they find?

A guy named “Rahul Mehta” selling a course: “₹4,999: Earn ₹1 Lakh Per Month in 30 Days”

Or a woman named “Priya Singh” pushing: “₹49,999: The Complete Freelancing Blueprint (Only 5 Spots Left!)”

Or an “Agency Owner” with a fake Rolex: “₹9,999: My 7-Step System to Land Your First Client”

These GURUS understand your desperation.

They understand that you just watched a video showing 50,000 layoffs. You’re scared. You want security. You want hope.

So they sell you a DREAM WRAPPED IN A COURSE.

Here’s what actually happened:

Guru spent ₹5,000 × 500 people = ₹25 lakhs from course sales.

Guru didn’t make ₹1 lakh/month FREELANCING.

Guru made ₹25 lakhs SELLING COURSES about freelancing.

[CALL OUT THE TACTICS]

How do you spot these fake gurus?

Red Flag #1: “Guaranteed ₹1 lakh per month”
Nobody can guarantee this. Income varies based on skills, pricing, effort, niche.

Red Flag #2: They show “proof” of earnings
But the “proof” is from COURSE SALES, not freelancing. Look closely. They’re showing Gumroad revenue, not Upwork earnings.

Red Flag #3: “Anyone can do this, any age, any background”
False. Not everyone has the discipline or skills. Some will fail. Real teachers admit this.

Red Flag #4: Urgency and scarcity
“Only 5 spots left!” “Enrollment closes tomorrow!” This is manipulation.

Red Flag #5: Testimonials from “students”
Usually, these students succeeded because they were already talented or motivated. The COURSE just accelerated what they could do. But the guru takes credit.

Chapter 5:THE REAL FREELANCING APPROACH

Phase 1: Setting Up the Essentials

[Insert a “follow me on Instagram” tile]

A. Selecting your niche

Ask yourself – what skill are you good at?

If you are a working professional, you probably know the answer. Or perhaps you aren’t happy with your current work and want to use freelancing to do what you love.

Either way, there’s a simple formula to find your niche:

Love your skill + market demand = your niche

For example:
I ghostwrite blog posts for busy founders.
I edit reels of real estate agencies.
I design ad graphics for lifestyle brands.

B. Setup your LinkedIn

LinkedIn is where the party’s at – but you have to know how to use it right.

Optimise your profile. This means:

  • Display picture: a clear headshot against a solid background. No party or group photos.
  • Cover image: a decent cover image that clearly explains the services you offer.
  • Headline: a crisp headline that explains the services you offer.
  • About: a brief “about you” section where you explain your past experiences, who you are as a person, what you have achieved so far and how you can help your prospect. Don’t write an essay. Keep it under 250 words.
  • Featured: display your portfolio here along with your best-performing posts, certifications, etc.

Phase II: Allocations – Time & Mindset

First, let’s start with the mindset. You need to look yourself into a camera and have a 1:1 pep talk telling yourself this:

“Legit freelancing takes time. For the next 6 months, I will show up on LinkedIn daily without expecting anything in return.”

Once you have a clear mindset, you will allocate time for your side hustle.

At least 100 minutes daily.

It doesn’t matter if it’s before or after your job or college.

Remember – the magic you’re searching for lies in these 100 minutes you will spend on yourself daily.

No weekends. No excuses. Just consistent effort daily.

Phase III: Marrying LinkedIn

While other platforms like Instagram, UpWork and Fiverr are great, I’m sticking to LinkedIn because that’s how I get my clients – and LinkedIn is perhaps one of the best places to get clients in 2026 and beyond.

I have divided your LinkedIn activities into 3 main parts:

A. Post
You should aim to post at least 2 times a week, if not more. What should you post about? Anything related to your niche.

Your posts should show at least one of these outcomes: your expertise OR your promise.

Examples:

  • Here’s how my writing process looks like
  • How I research for blog posts
  • What tools I use for video editing

Ideally, sit one day and plan out your topics in bulk. Then put them up on a Google Sheet corresponding to the day you plan on posting them. Then use your 100 minutes to create posts for those days in advance.

Congratulations – your basic social media calendar is ready to go!

B. Engage
Spend at least 20–25 minutes daily commenting on the posts of founders/managers in your niche. Leave organic, meaningful comments. Do not say “interested” or “nice post”. This is not 2013. This is not Facebook. LinkedIn is all about organic conversations.

If your comment is helpful and valuable, founders will notice you, and might even reach out to you to hire you.

[In fact, this is how I recently got a happy client I am currently working with – show screenshot]

C. Connect
Send at least 3–4 connection requests to founders and managers who you think can hire you. Make sure you write a personalised note. Feel free to use this template:

[Name], hi! I LOVE what/how [what they are building/promoting] – and in fact, I [how your services relate to them]. Would love to connect with you and support you! Cheers!

All you have to do in your 100-minute sprint daily is rinse and repeat your tasks.

Remember – the only way you can land clients fast and beat competition is by showing up daily. This is non-negotiable.

OUTRO

So we started this video with fear. 50,000 layoffs. AI replacing jobs. Your career at risk.

But we’re ending with a CHOICE.

You can be a victim of 2026. Panicking, competing with millions for fewer jobs.

Or you can be PREPARED. Building income fortresses right now.

The difference isn’t luck or talent or timing.

The difference is the choice you make NOW.

And if I have helped you gain clarity on freelancing, consider following me on Instagram.

I’m building a community of like-minded freelancers who want a no-B.S guidance on how to start build an income source they can count on.

What’s the next topic you want me to make a video on?
